Villages Raise Moms Too

We create spaces for healing through grief, transition, and motherhood.

Our Story

Mamas Mosaic was born from lived experience. After navigating grief, postpartum depression, and witnessing firsthand the gaps in support for Black maternal mental health, our founder, Desiree Logan, was moved to create a space rooted in care and connection. A space where women could gather freely and bear witness to our stories without having to explain our pain.

Through advocacy, meaningful partnerships, and peer-led support gatherings, Mamas Mosaic centers emotional well-being and community care. We work alongside hospitals, community organizations, and providers to thoughtfully bridge lived experience with clinical care, ensuring women are supported as whole people.

Our Mission

Mamas Mosaic builds a village for Black mothers, creating safe spaces to rest, reconnect, and advocate for their well-being through community gatherings and peer support. We disrupt the "superwoman" trope by normalizing vulnerability and collective care, because villages raise moms too.

Our Values

1. Community & Village We believe no Black woman should navigate life's challenges alone. We build and sustain villages where women show up for one another authentically.

2. Rest as Resistance We reject the "superwoman" trope and affirm that rest, softness, and pausing are radical acts of self-preservation, not weakness.

3. Vulnerability & Authenticity We create spaces where Black women can be fully human - sharing struggles, grief, joy, and truth without judgment or performance.

4. Collective Care We practice reciprocal support where care flows in all directions. Being a villager and seeking village are both acts of strength.

5. Holistic Well-being We honor the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health of Black women through every season and transition of life.

6. Empowerment Through Connection We believe healing and growth happen in community. Our strength multiplies when we gather, share, and uplift one another.

"Village is not optional. It’s essential."

We Are a Proud Official Perinatal Safe Spot

Mamas Mosaic serves as a Perinatal Safe Spot, rooted in shared cultural understanding and lived experience. Our work centers peer support as a powerful tool for advancing Black perinatal mental health, collective self-determination, and maternal justice within our communities.

Through community-led gatherings and partnerships, we create spaces where mothers are supported by people who understand their experiences firsthand. By leveraging a peer support model, Mamas Mosaic helps bridge emotional care and community connection, ensuring perinatal mental health support is accessible, affirming, and grounded in lived experience.

Impact

Our gatherings have brought together mothers across cities and seasons of life, partnered with healthcare systems, and created safe spaces where honest conversation and healing can begin. Check out what our program participants have to say.

“Grace in Grief created a safe and compassionate space to connect with others navigating loss, especially during the holidays. The openness and vulnerability of the women in the room made the experience incredibly meaningful. I’m so glad I attended.”

Grace in Grief Attendee

"Mamas mosaic is such a carefully curated space for black mothers to feel safe and heard in their most vulnerable moments. Mamas Mosaic has given me a community where I feel supported and understood when there may be nowhere else to share my voice. Just having a place to get day-to-day advice and guidance from other mothers with experience has been refreshing and encouraging."
